References from the Holy Bible

1Timothy 2:9  In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with braided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array;

1 Timothy 2:10  But (which becomes women professing godliness) with good works.

There are a variety of conclusions taught about this subject. I hope to add to it some elements which are not commonly taught, based on my personal study and searching the Lord for truth in love. I do not say this to puff up my own perspective or convictions.

“Shamefacedness” in the Strong’s Concordance Greek (G127) Describes behavior or attitude toward men as to be “shy”, and toward God to be in reverence.

It is my opinion that this definition of shamefacedness does not itself support the teaching of women not ever wearing cosmetic make-up. I did evaluate this teaching for some time, and for many years chose not to wear any makeup. Learn More Below.

Galatians 5:22  But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,

Galatians 5:23  Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.

Galatians 5:24 And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.

My choice not to wear cosmetic make-make-up was for the personal reasons Jesus was speaking to me about correlated with these and other related scriptures.

One of the methods Jesus has given us to prove what is good is to test the results of a matter, by determining what sort of behavior is present in a situation. We can compare behavior with the evidence of The Holy Spirit described in Galatians Chapter 5. Do the results show the presence of the Holy Spirit?

Here are a few examples :

Do you value yourself as God created you, without using cosmetics? ______

Have you ever felt like you don’t want to be seen without your make-up on? _______

Have you ever had critical thoughts about someone who is not wearing makeup? _______ (If you’re a woman, you have experienced or heard other women’s criticism of other women who don’t wear cosmetics, and perhaps you have been the one criticizing.)

If you answered yes to any of these questions, you could benefit from healing your heart. Discover more peace with God’s love for you and happiness with your natural God given beauty. You can also enjoy loving others as God made them.
